Following is the entry procedure to be followed for all Southern Pacific Water Polo regular USA Water Polo tournaments and leagues.

SOPAC ZONE SPORTSMANSHIP POLICY

STEP 1: ENTER THE EVENT
First check out the Southern Pacific Calendar for the events approved by the zone and check the USAWP site for sanctioned events to be certain that the event is safe for you to enter. Contact the event director for the event in which you wish to enter to determine the cost of the tournament and payment deadlines. Some events use online entry procedures and some do not. You will need to finalize your entries in a timely manner so that the event host can supply schedules 5 to 7 days prior to the beginning on the event.

Arrange with the meet director how and when you are going to pay for the tournament. If you are not paying for the tournament prior to your first game, you must provide him with a written commitment to attend. This is required to avoid arguments about no shows at the tournament. Keep in mind the fact that once you commit, you must appear or provide a substitute team, since there are penalties for no-shows. These penalties require that you must pay the entry fee, you must pay each team you were to have competed against the cost of the games if they did not get to play them, and you must pay a fine of $50 to Southern Pacific Water Polo. In addition, you will not be allowed to compete in or host another tournament until these fines are paid.

STEP 2: CREATE YOUR VERIFIED ROSTERS
YOU MUST USE THE ONLINE ROSTER VERIFICATION FORM TO VERIFY YOUR ROSTER WHICH IS VERIFIED AGAINST THE USA WATER POLO MEMBERSHIP DATABASE.

WHEN THE VERIFIED ROSTER IS RETURNED TO YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN, YOU MUST USE THE EMAIL OPTION TO EMAIL YOUR VERIFIED ROSTER TO YOURSELF AND THE EVENT DIRECTOR FOR THAT PARTICULAR EVENT. YOU ALSO SHOULD BRING COPIES OF YOUR VERIFIED ROSTERS TO THE EVENT AND GIVE IT TO THE SCORE TABLE BEFORE EACH OF YOUR GAMES SO THAT THEY CAN ENTER THE CAP#'S AND NAMES INTO THE SCORE SHEET.

It is highly recommended that each club appoint one person to act as the registration chairman for the club.

If a coach or athlete is not currently registered, you must submit a USAWP registration form and check for them or they cannot compete or coach.

Games may not begin until the verified rosters have been supplied. If rosters are not provided, the game may not begin and the team that does not have the roster will take a forfeit and be subject to all penalties associated with a forfeit.  For the first game of a tournament, a team without a roster may provide a hand written roster signed by the coach that declares all players are current members.  Before the second game, any team submitting a hand written roster MUST provide a USAWP verified roster.  If such roster is not submitted by the second game, the team will not be allowed to play any further.  If it is found that the club has submitted information that an athlete or coach is registered and he/she is not, the club will be billed for the registration fees and be required to pay an additional penalty of $50 to Southern Pacific Water Polo.

STEP 3: SHOW UP AND PLAY ALL OF YOUR SCHEDULED GAMES
Failure to show up at an event for which you have entered requires that you must pay the entry fee, you must pay each team you were to have competed against the cost of the games if they did not get another team to play them, and you must pay a fine of $50 to Southern Pacific Water Polo. In addition, you will not be allowed to compete in or host another tournament until these fines are paid.

If you compete in a tournament and have the situation of a no show against your team, it is the responsibility of the meet director to report this fact to the Zone Chairman and/or Zonal Event Rep. However it may be in your best interest to also report this fact yourself. Email is the preferred method of communication. It is also requested that you report any situations that may occur that would tend to cause concern for the reputation of USA Water Polo or our Zone. The referees have the responsibility for reporting major injuries and acts of brutality. There is an online incident report form for this purpose at http://www.scafwp.org/sopacincidentform.htm.
